"The only way to come into our full healing"

Zwei Jahre nach der Entschuldigung der kanadischen Regierung wurde dem Federal Indian Affairs Minister Chuck Strahl in Ottawa eine "Charter of Forgiveness" übergeben. Sie war auf dem National Forgiven Summit von Elders, Überlebenden der Residential Schools und auch jungen Leuten unterzeichnet worden.

Hi, Ellen,

hab mich jetzt erst damit näher beschäftigen können.
Danke nochmals für die Info, denn das ist eine große und bewundernswerte Sache von den First Nation und ich zolle persönlich den Verfassern dieser "Charter of Forgiveness" , die ja gleichfalls auch Opfer waren / sind , meine allergrößte Hochachtung ,
in Bezug auf :
"Vision is not reactionary to the past," says Blacksmith, "but we have to release ourselves and others from the burden of the past so we can look with hope to the future."
bzw. :
"At that moment" says Chief Kenny Blacksmith, "the onus was placed on our people as individuals to respond. The only way to come into our full healing as the First Peoples of Canada is to forgive. Forgiveness is not political; it cannot be bought or sold; it cannot be legislated. It is an individual choice that can break the generational cycle of victimization and accusation."

Das ist das , was mein Herz auch sagt : " Eine Zukunft gibt es nur, wenn man einen Neuanfang machen kann und alten Wunden, so schmerzhaft sie seien mögen und so unvergessen sie sein dürfen ..., wenigstens die Chance einer Heilung läßt."

Auf dieser Basis einer Nichtverhärtung der Fronten wird es dann auch eher möglich sein,
die begrabenen Opfer der Residential Schulen nach Hause zu holen und was auch ganz wichtig ist :
Für die Lebenden , das endlich öffentlich verarbeiten zu dürfen ...!!

(Das ist für mich der entscheidente Unterschied , im Vergleich zu den inzwischen zu besessenen... Aktionen der Aktivisten um K.A. , die sogar neue Opfer erzeugen können, die Wunden nur bedienen und in der Sache am Ende deshalb nichts bewirken)

Die Annahme der Erklärung ist "ein Schritt auf dem Weg der Versöhnung"

"National Chief Atleo said the indigenous nations in Canada and the U.S. increasingly are forging stronger ties to pursue issues of common concern and interest, including economies and the environment. Discussions are underway for a major energy and mining summit that would bring together indigenous leaders from Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, and indigenous leaders from the U.S. have been invited to AFM’s annual meeting in Winnipeg in July, National Chief Atleo said."

“Certainly by working more closely together we can encourage both the Canadian and American governments to recognize, respect and uphold their obligations to honor the treaties and the nation-to-nation relationship. And I think the Declaration is an excellent example of where we can draw on our collective strength and not only reach out to the governments, but to Canadian and American citizens to help them understand that they as well are treaty people. They share a responsibility to uphold and honor the treaties and they have a role to play.”

Comments:

"We need to act together to reconnect our fragmented nations (from the various tribes and bands meant to keep us powerless); protect our sacred sites (and return to our original homelands); and educate all people about us as 21st century people, not 16th century people (control the education system and how it treats us). We all survive as NDN or we all perish. Clearly, there are people and groups in both countries that want us to perish; we cannot help them (as we have is the past, and some are continuing to by tearing down each other)."
