Steven Point ist der erste indianische Lieutenant Governor in British Columbia. Er hat mit Hilfe des bekannten Schnitzers Tony Hunt ein Kanu geschnitzt, das jetzt mit einer traditionellen Zeremonie zu Wasser gelassen wurde.
Er sagt: "We're trying to create a better understanding amongst all people to help them understand that we're really in the same canoe. No matter where you're from, we just have to try to paddle together -- try to work together."
Das Kanu soll ein Geschenk an die Regierung und damit an die Bevölkerung von British Columbia werden.
