Larry Echo Hawk scheidet aus seinem Amt als
Assistant Secretary des US Bureau of Indian Affairs aus.

Salt Lake City (dpa) - Larry Echo Hawk wird eine führende Position in der Mormonen- Kirche übernehmen. Diese Ernennung erfolgte am vergangenen Samstag
Da es sich um eine Vollzeitstelle handeln wird, kann er seinen bisherigen wichtigen Posten beim BIA nicht mehr wahrnehmen.
Der dreiundsechzig jährige Echo-Hawk ist Mitglied der Pawnee Nation und war seit 2009 in der Obama Regierung beim Bureau of Indian Affairs, was dem US Innenministerium unterstellt ist, zielgerichtet für die Wahrnehmung indianischer Interessen und Angelegenheiten tätig.
1990 wurde er als erster amerikanischer Ureinwohner Generalstaatsanwalt für den Staat Idaho und war 1994 demokratischer Kandidat für das Amt des Gouverneur von Idaho.


Inzwischen gibt es die ersten Statements zu seinem Abschied vom BIA von führenden NA Vertretern,
die seine bisherige Arbeit und sein Engagement für das indianische Landes alle positiv bewerteten :

unter dem Gesichtspunkt Kosteneffizienz und Verbesserung der Lebenssituationen in Indian Counry,
d.h Schwerpunktlegung auf :

-Stärkung der Tribal / Nationen Initiativen,
-Sich entwickelnde " Nation zu Nation Beziehungen",
-Schutz des indianischen Landes,
-Verbesserung des Treuhand Land Management `s

HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Del Laverdure , ein ehemaliger Crow -Rechtsanwalt ist als kommissarischer Nachfolger von Larry Echo Hawk in das Amt des Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs beim BIA berufen wurden.

Del Laverdure war bisher Stellvertretender Sekretär seit 2009. Vorher war er Haupt-Rechtsberater für die Exekutive des Crowstammes und hatte Richterämter bei den Crow und anderen Stämmen inne.

Laverdure füllt diese Position aus, bis Präsident Barack Obama einen neuen Assistant Secretary ernennt.
Diese Nennung ist abhängig von der Senatbestätigung.

Nach erfolgreicher Arbeit, wieder ein funktioneller Abschied und personeller Wechsel beim BIA:

„US-Innenministerin Sally Jewell gab heute bekannt, das nach mehr als drei Jahren der Führung als Assistant Secretary - Indian Affairs ,
Professor Kevin K. Washburn seinen Dienst in der Abteilung, im Januar beenden wird.

Washburn wird wieder an die Fakultät der University of New Mexico School of Law zurückgehen.
Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Lawrence "Larry" Roberts wird die Indian Affairs für den Rest der Obama-Administration führen.

Washburn ist der am längsten amtierende Staatssekretär für indianische Angelegenheiten.“
