Hallo zusammen,
ich bin wieder im Lande und fand folgenden Bericht vor.
"Geronimo was an Apache leader in the late 1800s; Osama bin Laden led terrorist group al Qaeda.
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
•Tying Geronimo to bin Laden "undermines the military service of Native people," official says
•Dozens of Native Americans have died serving in Afghanistan and Iraq
•Geronimo was an Apache leader in the late 1800s
(CNN) -- In light of reports that linked the name "Geronimo" with the operation that took down Osama bin Laden, Native Americans expressed disappointment Thursday and pointed to the sacrifices they have made in the service.
"To associate a Native warrior with bin Laden is not an accurate reflection of history and it undermines the military service of Native people," said Jefferson Keel, president of the National Congress of American Indians. "It's critical that military leaders and operational standards honor the service of those who protect our freedom."
Initial press reports said that "Geronimo" was used in the raid to refer to bin Laden, but a senior administration official later told CNN that it was code for the act of capturing or killing bin Laden, not for the man himself.
Keel said that according to his understanding, the most-wanted terrorist's code name was "Jackpot," and the name of the operation was "Geronimo."
Geronimo was an Apache leader in the late 1800s who is revered by many in the Southwest as a hero, the NCAI said.
Harlyn Geronimo, a descendant of the warrior, was sharply critical of the use of his great-grandfather's name.
"Whether it was intended only to name the military operation to kill or capture Osama bin Laden or to give Osama bin Laden himself the code name Geronimo, either was an outrageous insult and mistake," he said.
To use the name is "such a subversion of history that it also defames a great human spirit and Native American leader," he said.
Thom Wallace, communications director of NCAI, said that whatever the reason behind the use of the name "Geronimo" and the debate over it, the real conversation was being lost. That conversation, he said, is about the 24,000 American Indian active members of the military. A disproportionately high number of Native Americans serve in the U.S. military, he said.
The group pointed out that 61 American Indians and Alaskan Natives have been killed serving in the armed forces in Afghanistan and Iraq, and 445 have been injured.
"Let's be very clear about what is important here: The successful removal of Osama bin Laden as a threat to the United States honors the sacrifice these Native warriors made for the United States and their people," said Keel, himself a veteran.

Geronimo was a great warrior and Chief a real man who fought his enemies with no supplies out gunned and out numbered for many years . Osama Bin laden should have been proud to be compared to such a great warrior . Unlike the paper pushing wimps that sit in the whitehouse for the last twenty years . That if faced by a real warrior like Geronimo would crap there pants and run like the cowards they are . Not only are our leaders wimps so are all the city people that let the drug dealing punks and wantabe tough guy cops walk all over them . Real men dont cry about some one calling them names they put their fist in persons mouth our shoot them with their 45 . I have great respect for all warriors even my enemy and none for wimps that cry about name calling .
I also agree, this is pure racist as is the owner Dan Snyder of the billion dollar football franchise Washington Redskins. Using the term redskin is like calling black people nigger. However, not even a black in the white house can justify this Geronimo crap. American Indians were savagely killed by the Americans. Not one treaty ever written was in tack to date.
All of their lands with mineral resources and wealth were stolen
by the US government
The U.S. military went to great pain in order to justify a proper funeral. They should have at least given the American
Indian the same respect.
Freedom the United States has not yet overcome its genocidal history. The United States is a society obsessed with superiority complex-which is way of hiding inferiority guilt complex. Hence, the selection of this clearly provocative racist codename for Bin Laden reflects the fact the United States was founded not on freedom but on genocidal aggression and it has not been able to overcome its aggressive past. Perhaps another 400 years and this lust for blood and revenge will subside.
Interesting choice of word "Geronimo", the same word was also used in the movie about the CIA with Mel Gibson called "Conspiracy Theory" which had many of the same elements working as the Bin Laden case...in the words of Karl Sagan "More courieser and more courieser".
When it comes to the mention of Geronimo's name, one would do well to recall the fact that those who fight for freedom abound in the earth. That if the First Nations of America were not shining principalities and authorities of light, slavery would never had a need to steal persons from other places in the world. Thus is how you all should remember Geronimo. It is better to reside with the Armies of God in Heaven than to feed the Dissective Nazism run over an impermanent geography. The Lamentations of those fallen in the line of capture by Dissectice Nazi Practice are not more wrathful than those whom have flown to God. Neither are they thrown into hell by the Lord God. Merely by the agent of disease and its grip upon the Dominion of mankind.
History is written by the winners of the wars waged, and Hero's are the men who time does not forget. The west vs the east. Your philosophy vs mine. Your capitalist ideas vs their socialists. Your God vs mine. You invade their country, they try and blow up yours. They build their empires at the expense of your life, and label you a terrorist for fighting back. Peace in this world will come when the empires of the day stop their world dominating objectives, and focus on healing, liberating, educating, and loving. The freedom loving, peace seeking, majority of the world are being manipulated and killed for the benefit of the few, who divide and conquer us all. Peace.
Again the insult that North American original peoples are like any other tribes of peoples is inane and absolute junk journalism. The only thing in common with any peoples in the world is the take over of their lands and birthrights. So to use a Chief who did not play the game with the european is far from Bin Laden after all the he did for the Bush family."
"Code name for Osama bin Laden was "Geronimo." Would President Obama allow Martin Luther King's name be used to represent this NUT JOB terrorist against our nation? NO!! This is a disgrace to all American Indians. Geronimo was a hero standing up for his peoples rights to live in peace from the U.S. Government & it's holocaust against them."
Grüße
